UPSIDE DOWN
The ceilings tell stories of grandeur, artistic mastery and architectural vision.
The main objective of this project is to challenge the common perception that ceilings are simply an ignored part of environments. Visitors often concentrate on the works of art or the architecture of the places, neglecting the fascinating details that are hidden right above them.
Three different types of ceilings are represented: frescoed, classical and industrial.
For the frescoed ceilings I went to several churches in the town where I live, Pizzighettone. The churches involved are San Pietro, San Rocco, San Marcello, San Bassiano, San Patrizio and the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Roggione.
For the more classic ceilings I went to the Massimo De Carlo art gallery in Milan.
And finally, for the industrial ceilings, I went to the Milano Centrale railway station and the Mohole academy in Milan.
The frescoed ceilings are real artistic masterpieces, masterfully painted by artists of the past. The photographs capture the details to allow you to admire the historical and cultural richness of these works of art.
Industrial ceilings are represented by a fusion of glass and metal elements, which with their geometries create modern and fascinating structures.
The classic ceilings are characterized by soft geometric lines and great symmetry, some
more simple other more detailed.
Beauty is not limited to what we encounter at eye level. By looking up, you can discover a world of hidden wonders.
